Communication 4 All

While looking through my unread links on my Diigo toolbar, I came across a very interesting site, Communication 4 All. As the site says:

Hi, and welcome to Communication 4 All.
My name is Bev Evans and I set up this site because I struggled to find the
classroom resources I needed to support inclusion.
There have been changes to the site recently! I no longer have a catalogue: everything available is already on the site. Just email me if you have any requests for the site

There are so many resources on this site. The game section features math, color, and matching board games. The early years section has thematic units on many different topics. Other sections include literacy (many materials for Jolly Phonics), numeracy, science, & singing. The materials are available mostly in .pdf format, and some in powerpoint format. Check it out here.

Pete's Stuff

An interesting site I came across while reading about myself (at One Switch UK) is Pete's Stuff. Pete has several stories that he's written that allow for the use of sensory materials as you read. The stories look absolutely hilarious (check out Norbert the Green Nosed Reindeer) and it would take a person with a sense of humor to use them. They are powerpoint files and include a word document with the story (and sensory items). I know I'm going to have a blast surprising my students with these stories.

social stories site

A great link was shared on the Boardmaker Group recently. This is a link to a great site for social stories. The blog that it was mentioned on is here at the Fruitful Prairie:

Fruitful Prairie - Social Stories

Which links you to the Kansas Autism Spectrum Disorders website. They have an entire section devoted to social narratives and power cards. They use many different characters (Dora, Thomas, etc...) to help teach students different skills. The files are available in different formats too - powerpoint, word, Boardmaker, and more. Check out this great resource for writing social stories.
