BubCap by @PaperclipRobot #mlearning #slide2learn #iPadEd

For those of you who have been reading a long time, you know I am not a fan of banning or taking away things.  That being said, there are times when something is so overpowering that you cannot stop it, and reteaching is still quite a ways away!

One of those "somethings" is the Home button on every iOS device.  Having a 15-month-old daughter, who loves to use the iPhone (Duck, Duck Moose apps are wonderful!), but she also loves to push the Home button.  The attraction of the simple cause and effect is so powerful that even if she is enjoying an app, she will push the button.  That's where the BubCap comes in.

The BubCap is a simple sticky cover that goes over your home button.  The genius of it is that you (as an adult) can still push the Home button, but a child does not have the strength do it.  So you can leave the BubCap on as long as you want and still have access to most of the features of the device.  It really works well, and my daughter is not able to push the Home button with it on.  You do need to teach yourself to push differently when using it, but it is not too bad.

The BubCaps come in 3 different strengths Regular, Ultra & Max.  The Regular is recommended for younger children on the iPhone & iPod Touch.  Ultra is for stronger children on the iPhone & iPod Touch or younger children on the iPad.  Max is for older children on the iPad.  All packs of BubCaps are $5.

The only issue I have is that with the BubCap on it is nearly impossible to "double click" the Home button and bring up the multi-tasking toolbar.  While not a huge hinderance, and not a big enough a deal to keep me from using it, it is something that should be pointed out.
